- 1 medium cucumber, grated and drained
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Mezze Platter
- 4 pita breads, warmed and cut into triangles
- 1 cup Kalamata olives
- 1 cup feta cheese, cubed
- 1 cup cucumber slices
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 roasted red bell pepper, sliced
- Fresh dill for garnish
- Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
- Dried oregano or za’atar seasoning
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Hummus
Place the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, cumin, salt, and cold water in a food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add more water if needed for a silky texture. Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
Step 2: Make the Tzatziki
Grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, mint (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
Step 3: Warm the Pita Bread
Heat the pita bread in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–7 minutes or warm it in a dry skillet. Slice into triangles for easy dipping.
Step 4: Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and slice the cucumbers, halve the cherry tomatoes, and cut the roasted red peppers into thin strips.
Step 5: Arrange the Platter
Place the bowls of hummus and tzatziki in the center of a large serving board. Arrange the pita bread around the dips, then add the feta cheese, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, and roasted peppers in separate sections to create a colorful presentation.
Step 6: Garnish
Drizzle the hummus and feta with extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle dried oregano or za’atar over the pita bread and garnish the platter with fresh dill.
Step 7: Serve
Serve immediately with warm pita bread and fresh vegetables. This Mediterranean mezze platter pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, lamb, seafood, falafel, or can be enjoyed on its own as a light and refreshing meal.
This recipe serves 6–8 people as an appetizer and is ideal for parties, family gatherings, picnics, or holiday celebrations.
